Special Bulletin Announcement - Earthquake Relief in Haiti Update
Even as Catholic Relief Services/Caritas Haiti continues to deliver relief supplies to the Haitian people, they are working on long-term recovery plans for this country, which was devastated by the January 12 earthquake that killed over 200,000.
With the rainy season approaching, the focus of CRS/Caritas Haiti’s relief effort is moving from food (CRS/Caritas Haiti has fed some 600,000 people) to transitional shelter. Many Port-au-Prince residents, their homes either destroyed or unstable, are living beneath sheets and curtains that provide no protection against inclement weather. At the same time, a tremendous amount of work is being done in the areas of health, hygiene, cash for work (employment), the protection of children, and safety.
Thank you for the tremendous outpouring of prayers and support for the Haitian people. For more information on CRS’ efforts in Haiti as well as prayer resources, educational resources, and information on how you can help with the long-term rebuilding process, please go to www.crs.org or call 877-Help-CRS (977-435-7277).
