Mission

Welcome to the Catholic Missions Office Website!

“Every person has the right to hear the ‘Good News’ of the God who reveals and gives himself in Christ, so that each one can live out in its fullness his or her proper calling” (Redemptoris Missio, 46).

It is this conviction that motivates mission within the Catholic Church. The boundaries of mission are the ends of the earth. The Catholic Missions Office of the Archdiocese of Chicago exists to foster a universal missionary spirit among all God’s people.

Catholic Missions Office of the Archdiocese of Chicago

The Catholic Missions Office is at the service of the worldwide mission of the Church while remaining firmly rooted in the local Church. The office is responsible for animating and coordinating the mission outreach of the Archdiocese by participating in the work of the Pontifical Mission Societies:
·     The Society of the Propagation of the Faith
·     The Holy Childhood Association
·     The Society of Saint Peter Apostle
·     The Pontifical Missionary Union.

The Office is responsible for mission education and seeks to collaborate with clergy, parishes, schools, and other agencies and departments of the Archdiocese. It seeks the cooperation of the faithful in promoting the mission of Christ through their prayer, sacrifices and financial support.

Conscious of the fact that it is the Holy Spirit that makes our efforts fruitful our daily prayer is “Lord, give success to the work of our hands” (Psalm 90:17).
