Cardinal George to Deliver annual
Joseph Cardinal Bernardin Jerusalem Lecture
CHICAGO (February 16, 2005) Francis Cardinal George, O.M.I, Archbishop of Chicago, will speak on “Catholics, Jews and American Culture” at the 10th annual Joseph Cardinal Bernardin Jerusalem Lecture at 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 21, at Anshe Emet Synagogue, 3 N. Broadway St., Chicago.
In his address, Cardinal George will reflect on the influence culture has on a faith community and the influence the faith of a community can have on culture.
Following the 1995 inaugural Lecture of Cardinal Bernardin in Jerusalem, speakers such as Professor Emil Fackenheim, Edward Cardinal Cassidy, Rabbi David Hartman and Dr. Bernard McGinn have delivered the annual lectures. Complete sets, as well as individual copies, of the previous lectures in the series will be available at the Feb. 21 lecture.
The Archdiocese of Chicago, the American Jewish Committee, the Chicago Board of Rabbis, the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago, and the Spertus Institute of Jewish Studies jointly sponsor the annual Joseph Cardinal Bernardin Jerusalem Lecture series.
