Chicago, IL (December 29, 2009) – At 8 a.m. on Saturday, January 9, Catholic high schools across the Archdiocese of Chicago will administer their annual placement tests for elementary school eighth grade students.

Catholic, public or private school students who are interested in attending archdiocesan high schools in the fall of 2010 should report to the high school they wish to attend to take the test, bring two No. 2 pencils and a check or money order for the $25 exam fee made payable to the school.  Test results will be mailed to students on February 12, 2010.

The North Central Association, the largest regional evaluation and accreditation organization in the United States, accredits each Archdiocese of Chicago high school and requires professional development for teachers.  Catholic high school students in the Archdiocese of Chicago have a 96% attendance rate and a 98% graduation rate, with 95% of graduates enrolling in a college or university.

Note:  Cristo Rey Jesuit High School in Chicago, Christ the King Jesuit College Prep in Chicago and St. Martin de Porres High School in Waukegan do not offer these placement tests.  Students interested in attending any of these three high schools should contact the admissions directors at these schools.
