A half-hour cable television program, Francis Cardinal George - His Journey of Faith, featuring the Archdiocese of Chicago's recent pilgrimage to Lourdes, airs this weekend throughout Chicago and its suburbs. Cardinal Francis George gives his personal reflections on the historic journey in this special edition of The Church, the Cardinal and You.
The Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes is one of the most visited pilgrimage sites in the world. This year, we celebrate the 150th anniversary of the apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary to a peasant girl, 14-year-old Bernadette Soubirous.
Cardinal George led a pilgrimage from the Archdiocese of Chicago to Southern France in this jubilee year for a week of prayer and reflection. Photojournalist Michael May was on the trip to document the journey in video.
